Our Process

1

Free In-Home Consultation & Estimate

When you schedule your free in-home consultation with our home designers, you’ll receive an email from our office confirming your appointment as well as some helpful resources that we recommend you take a look at before your appointment, to ensure that you get the most out of our time together.

During our meeting, we want to get to know you and your driving factors for remodeling. You can expect some of the following questions:

  • Why are you remodeling?
  • What is your style?
  • What type of materials and finishes do you like and want?
  • What do you love and what do you hate about your current space?
  • What would you like to invest in your project?
  • What is your timeline?
  • How do you need your space to function for you?
  • What are the things you would love to be able to do in your new space?
  • What are your highest priorities in remodeling or creating this new space?

Once we have discussed your vision, goals and ideas for the project, we’ll give you an estimated high and low-cost range based on the size of your home, materials needed and the scope of work.

Design & Material Selection

After you have accepted our estimated cost range, your designer will take the information gathered during our meeting and present you with a formal estimation. We will also collect our professional services agreement retainer at this time. The retainer includes the costs associated with the next phases of your project:

Initial Design Time

Drawing a space is one of the most time-consuming parts of a home remodel. We are proud to offer interior design services. When we design, draw, and render a project it takes many hours. It involves figuring out the best way a space can function and creating images and drawings to visualize what the space will look like. Your designer will create these drawings as well as a realistic photo 3D rendering so that you can see how your finished project will look.

Scope of Work

Based on your design, we will create a detailed scope of work. We do this to keep our clients informed of every detail of their project. This scope includes an itemized materials list and break down of each stage of work to be completed by room and category.

On and Off-site Material Selection

As a design team we assist you with selecting the best plumbing, tile, flooring, hardware and other materials that will go into their project. We look at quality, finish, price, and function to ensure it is the exact right product for your home and project.

Collaboration

Your designer is just one part of the RU team that will need to collaborate to make your project come to life. Once your design is complete, we’ll prepare a job folder for our craftsmen that includes detailed cabinetry, countertop, tile, plumbing, appliance, hardware layouts and other specifications to make ensure that your project goes as smoothly as possible.

Project Scheduling & Construction

This is where we take your design from paper and turn it into a reality. When selections are completed, agreed upon and ordered we turn to the construction side to get an estimated start date. As a client, you will be informed when selections arrive to our warehouse, when to expect each delivery and a firm start date two weeks prior to kicking off your home remodel.

Preparing For Demo Day

You’ll receive an email a few weeks before your start date with instructions on how to prepare for demo day and a brief questionnaire about your home so that we set our craftsmen up for success and ensure that you have the best possible experience during your home renovation.

We will also send you an invitation to set up your customer portal on BuilderTrend, our online project management platform, where our clients see our team members daily logs with photos and descriptions, the approved site contract, a platform to review and accept/deny change orders (if applicable) and a job cost total. This portal can be accessed at any time with your smart phone or computer.

Project Communication

Prior to starting your project we will introduce your dedicated Project Manager, who will be your main point of contact for any questions, concerns or issues that may arise throughout your project. Your project manager is available, responsive to your needs and can be reached via text, call, email and on BuilderTrend for your convenience.
