These Ann Arbor homeowners wanted a primary bathroom that balanced classic character with modern performance. We completed a full demolition, reframed for a new shower curb, bench, and custom niche, relocated plumbing, and delivered a finished suite with a porcelain subway tile shower, mosaic floor, freestanding tub, custom Wellborn cabinetry, Wilsonart quartz countertops, and a euro glass enclosure, all finished with beadboard wainscoting and coordinated trim throughout.

The Details Behind This Transformation
This Ann Arbor primary bathroom required careful integration of new drywall into existing plaster walls, subfloor repair for drain trenching, and a temporarily disconnected and reinstalled radiator coordinated with HVAC and plumbing to meet code. Multi-layer site protection, containment, and HEPA filtration were installed before demolition began to protect the rest of the occupied home.
The shower was rebuilt from the slab up with a cement pan, waterproof membrane, vertical subway tile walls, a Soho hex mosaic floor, and milled quartz pieces for the curb, niche, and bench, finished with Jolly and Schluter metal trim and a 90-degree euro glass enclosure with Diamond Fusion treatment. Wellborn cabinetry in Glacier was installed with a Wilsonart Madeira Beach quartz vanity top, and beadboard wainscoting with chair rail and coordinated base and case molding tied the classic character of the space together throughout.
